South Florida Beach Diving Sites - Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach |
Local Beach Diving Sites Serving South Florida divers since 1976
Welcome to beach diving in South Florida. Nowhere else in the United States can you step into the warm blue waters and find such great diving so close to shore. Scuba diving and snorkeling from our shores is as good as it gets in this country. Should you chose to go, please remember that you must use a Dive flag and float. Please do not dive alone. Below is a short list of good shore diving sites. You can get more sites and information by visiting a Force-E store. Enjoy!
Phil Foster Park The entrance to the park is on the East side of the Blue Heron Boulevard Bridge about a quarter mile east of our store. There is plenty of parking. Enter the water under the bridge via the small beach on the west side of the bark. Swim to the right and go back under the bridge from south to north. Continue past the bridge to the foundation of the old bridge. There are old concrete columns that lie just north of the old bridge foundation. CAUTION: Do not swim too far to the west into the boat channel. Don't go west of the fourth set of bridge columns. Be considerate to fisherman on the old bridge. There are strong currents except at Slack Tides. Check with our Force-E Riviera Store for the best times to dive. Depths range from about 6 to 16 feet.
Worth Avenue Pier Debris (Palm Beach) The debris from the old pier is spread across the bottom in a west to east direction directly in line with the Worth Av. street sign. The eastern edge of the pier reveals a patch reef and ledges that run North and South. Depths range from 8 to 14 feet.
Red Reef Park
This is a popular Boca Raton Beach Park. Parking is expensive but the facilities, showers, tables, restrooms, playground and lifeguards on duty. Snorkelers are not required to use a flag and float but it is still a good idea. Depths range from 3- 8 feet. The entry point is just south of the beach access ramp. There is some artificial reef boulders slightly outside and South of the "Red Reef" area.
This site is adjacent to the public beach in Deerfield Beach. This end of the beach does not have a lifeguard. Take South Ocean Way from A1A and proceed south. Pass the Howard Johnson's hotel on your right and follow S. Ocean Way around the big condominium Cove Beach Club. Park in the spaces just south of the Cove Beach Club. There are three lines of reef here running parallel to the beach. The first line of reef starts about 75 feet offshore. (Depth about 6') The second line of reef is about 50 feet beyond the first. (depth 10-12') The third line of reef is another 40 feet past the 2nd line. (Depth 14-16').
Vista Park
This reef is very wide and runs North and South for about 600 yards. It starts 70 to 80 yards from shore and runs from 10 to 18 feet in depth. Park in Vista Park. The Park is in front of the middle of the reef. The reef is over 100 yards wide. Bring a float and flag and stay close to it.
